We are sure that the readers will not object to a cartoonish rendering of Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel and his friend and compatriot, Meyer Lansky. There are reasons for preferring this type of artistry, but for now we will not weary the reader with it.

Both men, we hear, were shrewd businessmen. Certainly that's what they believed and wanted others to believe.

However, one author took a look at the cases where Benny (as he was called by anyone who didn't want a broken nose) and Meyer did try to engage in legitimate business. Not only did Benjamin make a hash out of what should have been a money factory, but even when Meyer, who no one doubts had brains, tried his hand at some more or less standard ventures, they were not as profitable as when mainstream corporations took over.
