George Washington's Rules of Civility

Here are four more Rules of Civility and Decent Behavior penned by the Father of Our Country, George Washington himself. Remember, always do as George would do - except of course, lose the Battles of the Brandywine (and so the city of Philadelphia), Long Island, the Siege of New York City, open fire on a diplomatic messenger from France thereby singlehandedly starting the French and Indian Wars, and sell slaves to the West Indies if they don't work they way you want them to. But all in all, George had a lot to commend him, not the least because he gave the shortest inaugural address - and almost any other speech - on record. However, the short duration of the speech (probably less than 90 seconds) may have been due to him suffering from badly fitting false teeth. But whatever the reason, his brevity was certainly an act of civility.
