Snow Leopard

Snow leopards are in the same family as, yes, leopards. But also lions, tigers, and jaguars.

Snow leopards are now listed as vulnerable and there are perhaps 6000 adults still living in the wild. Litters typical contain 2 to 4 kittens and they can grow to a length of over 7 feet, a goodly portion, of course, is their noticeable tail.

Currently snow leopards are found in the wild in the area around Mongolia, Afganistan, and China. Usually they live in mountainous regions above 6000 feet. But this particular snow leopard - at one time called an ounce - resides in Philadelphia.
