Bronze Casting - Final Sculpture Before Patina

A final sandblast (which was complicated by water from the compressor getting into the sand) gives the surface a nice matte look. Since the wax model had not been polished or refined ("chased" is the technical term), the (again a modest cough) artist decided to leave the sculpture with a rough - or rather irregular - surface.

The sculpture is sitting on the bricks because it is just about to be hit with a blowtorch so that a solution of "liver" - i. e. "liver of sulfur" - and ferric (i. e., iron) acetate can be brushed on the surface as the final "patina".
