By the mid-1950's the United States of America was firmly in the era of the new celebrities. Marlon Brando, John Wayne, Paul Newman, Marilyn Monroe, and yes, Elvis filled the news pages more than any other names from the past.

Except, of course, for Carl Sandburg. Yep, even in the Swinging Sixties, author and poet and singer Carl Sandburg was mentioned in the news considerably more than most of the now iconic performers.
