Porcelain (English) Gorilla

Gorilla (Unglazed English Porcelain)

No, no, no, this is not a porcelain statue of an English gorilla. But a statue of a gorilla created in English porcelain. Usually porcelain and other ceramics qualify as something being "art" - which is probably how Marcel Duchamp got away with submitting a urinal to an art exhibit.

Although as is typical for ceramics, this statue was fired twice to give it strength beyond the normal "bisqueware", which is what you get after the first firing. But this statue was not glazed to make it nice and shiny. For some reason - although it may not be visible in the photo - the statue came out with a very slight pink shade.
