Ronald Howard

Ronald Howard

Say "Sherlock Holmes" to television and motion picture buffs, and they'll think Basil Rathbone and Jeremy Brett - and today Robert Downey, Jr. But British actor Ronald "Wink" Howard's characterization of the world's most famous detective easily stands up to either the previous or later portrayals. So why didn't Wink, with more than a hundred television shows and motion pictures to his credit, ever make the big time? In the end, it probably boils down to pure luck. You can be a good actor, yes, but you still have to have the big break. That never came to Wink, and in his mid-fifties he gave up acting altogether and set up as an art dealer in West Dorset in the UK. For some more - a little more - about Wink click here.
